THE OCEAN
IS CALLING.
Our Story
The Curvy Surfer Girl Movement is dedicated to reimagining the last 63 years of exclusive history in women's surfing. Hawaii surfer, Elizabeth Sneed recognized the need for women to have a community dedicated to surfing that was representative of modern and diverse women athletes.
Elizabeth's personal journey of accepting herself as a plus-size athlete over the last 3.5 years was the catalyst that launched the movement. In the summer of 2020, Elizabeth partnered with a world-class surf photographer of Oahu's South Shore to launch some of the first images of a plus-size female surfer via Instagram.
Curvy Surfer Girl continued to grow as a movement and community through Instagram amassing 24,000 women in nine months, a resounding indication by women worldwide for more and better representation in women's surfing.
Curvy Surfer Girl continues to lead the women's surfing movement of body diversity and positivity.
In 2021, CSG is launching a Waikiki surf retreat for women of all shapes, sizes, and backgrounds focused on improving surf performance and confidence. CSG also intends to actively work with brands to create more size-inclusive performance surfwear for plus-size athletes, address the need for plus-size wetsuits, and manufacture a series of surfboards specifically for beginner and plus-size surf athletes. We also plan to launch a series of digital resources for female plus-size surfing athletes that include guides for purchasing surfboards, dermatologist-recommended skincare for surfers, helpful nutrition, confidence and self-esteem workbooks, surf fitness, and strength training exercises, and much more!
People Who’ve Made This Possible.
Curvy Surfer Girl is by no means a one-woman show. I may be the face in front of the camera but behind the scenes, I have an amazing team of people who have helped bring this to life. I am extremely grateful for all of it, so please check them out & support their expertise.
